FEE Head Office staff (2025)
Eco-Campus is pleased to offer the FEE Structured Internship Scheme, providing students and early-career professionals with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within one of the world’s leading environmental education networks.
Eco-Campus is part of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) - a global organisation delivering internationally recognised sustainability programmes including Eco-Schools, Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), Learning about Ecosystems and Forests (LEAF), and the tourism programmes Blue Flag and Green Key. Together, these initiatives support sustainability education and action in more than 100 countries worldwide.
As part of the newly restructured Eco-Campus programme, this internship scheme has been designed to support young professionals to develop the green skills, professional competencies, and systems-level understanding needed to drive sustainability in education, policy, organisations, and industry.

Katharina Sophie Ingebrand
“After completing my M.Sc. in Political Science, I joined Green Key and Blue Flag as an intern in January 2024 to gain hands-on experience with sustainability in the tourism sector. During my internship, I worked on the revision of the Blue Flag criteria and supported the administration of Green Key hotels, which gave me valuable insight into how sustainability standards are developed and implemented in practice. The experience allowed me to better understand the link between policy, sustainability standards, and real-world application, and strengthened my interest in working at the intersection of sustainability and international cooperation.”

“While completing my Master’s degree in 2024, I joined the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) as an intern, keen to gain first-hand insight into how an international environmental NGO operates. As part of the Eco-Campus team, and working in a remote, international setting, I supported early research and comparison of sustainability and campus accreditation frameworks. This contributed to initial discussions on how the new Eco-Campus programme could align with the UNESCO Green School Quality Standard (GSQS) within the broader Greening Education Programme (GEP).
The experience strengthened my analytical and strategic thinking skills and provided a behind-the-scenes perspective on how sustainability education initiatives take shape internationally. It continues to inform my work today, and I remain connected to the FEE community through ongoing collaboration in my new role with the Green Growth Asia Foundation, operator of FEE programmes in Malaysia.”

Isabel Giorgioni
I joined FEE as a Communication Intern in January 2026 as part of my postgraduate internship, with the goal of gaining practical experience in effectively communicating sustainability education. In this role, I support the communication and coordination of various programmes while creating engaging content to expand their reach. Through this work, I am gaining valuable insight into how global environmental education initiatives engage diverse audiences and create meaningful impact.
Through this experience, I am developing skills in project management and sustainability communication, strengthening my commitment to pursuing a career in this field, as I believe raising awareness about sustainability is essential in rebuilding our connection to the environment and one another.
